"Love is Love" and Other Unbiblical Slogans

It's June, which has been deemed "Pride Month" in the United States, which means Rainbow flags and unbiblical slogans about love abound.

Here are some common ones alongside the Biblical truth.

The World: “Love is Love”

The Bible: “God is Love”

  • “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God…Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” – 1 John 4:7-8

The World: “Love has no limits.”

The Bible: “Love is keeping God’s commandments.”

  • “This is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome.” – 1 John 5:3

The World: “Be Proud.”

The Bible: “Love is not proud.” – 1 Corinthians 13:4

  • “I say to the boastful, ‘Do not boast,’ and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horn.” - Psalm 75:4

  • “Let the one who boasts, boast in the lord.” - 1 Corinthians 1:31

The World: “Love is a Feeling.” “You can’t help who you love.”

The Bible: “Love is a sacrifice. Love is a Choice and a Command. You can choose to love even your enemies.”

  • “Love is not self-seeking.” – 1 Corinthians 13:5

  • This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.” - 1 John 3:16

  • “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. – John 13:34

  • “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” – Matthew 5:44

The World: “Love requires you to affirm my identity.”

The Bible: “Love requires telling the truth.”

  • “Love does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.” – 1 Corinthians 13:6

  • “A man who flatters his neighbor is spreading a net for his steps.” Proverbs 29:5

The World: “Love Wins.”

The Bible: “God Wins.”

  • “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.” – Galatians 6:7

  • “’As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’” – Romans 14:11
